PT Teller Westphalia/Pewamo Posting #05132016

Union Bank is seeking a friendly, out-going, sales-oriented individual to join our customer-focused team as a PT Teller at our Pewamo/Westphalia Branch Offices.  Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 6 months of previous cash handling, banking and customer service experience.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under supervision and in a training capacity, provide service to customers involving receipts and payment of cash, and to recognize customer needs and suggest appropriate Bank services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receive all types of transactions:

Checking

Savings

Tax deposits

Credit Card deposits

Loan payments

  • Count, prove, and package currency and coin.
  • Verify customer identity.
  • Cash checks following proper Bank procedures, making sure funds are available and collected.
  • Redeem and sell U.S. Savings Bonds.
  • Balance cash drawer and prepare balancing sheets, keeping within the cash limit assigned.
  • Assist in night depository functions.
  • Keeps teller station furnished with a working supply of forms.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures along with maintaining an awareness of all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Open accounts including Checking, Savings, and Certificates of Deposits.
  • Answer phone and provide extraordinary customer service.
  • Cross sell and promote all bank products.
  • Serve safe deposit box customers.
  • Balance Automatic Teller Machine.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Office Manager or other Officers.

WORKING CONDITIONS OF THE JOB

  • Stationed at teller area 95% of working time.
  • Requires standing on feet good share of day.
  • Work at different branches with short notice or as scheduled.
  • Handling and lifting large bags or boxes of coins.
  • No particular hazards on the job.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School education.
  • Good interpersonal communication and computer skills: ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers and adding machines.
  • Ability to retain confidential information.
  • Professional appearance and manner is required for this customer contact position.
  • Must have proper phone etiquette.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior cash handling experience

Head Teller  Dimondale Office - Posting #04182016

Union Bank is seeking a friendly, out-going, sales-oriented individual to join our customer-focused team as a Head Teller at our Dimondale Branch Office.  Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of previous banking experience including vault and drawer balancing, opening new accounts and basic Teller supervision.

Summary of Job Duties:

  • Receives and pays out cash in accordance with bank policy in addition to various related duties and also functions as a trainer and working leader of a small group of tellers.
  • Oversees teller activities, maintains records of vault and teller station cash balances, and oversees currency accounts.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with branch duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Verify all money received or shipped following proper bank procedures.
  • Responsible for balancing the vault on a daily basis and maintaining the cash limit set by the Security Officer and the banks insurance coverage.
  • Responsible for making proper General Ledger entries and tickets.
  • Responsible for balancing teller window and seeing that all tellers balance on a daily basis.
  • Guiding and advising tellers in the efficient handling of customers needs and assisting with the work.
  • Assist the branch manager in conducting performance evaluations for tellers and resolve grievances.
  • Perform a variety of customer service transactions, such as account holds, stop payment orders, direct deposit, check confirmation and account opening.
  • Responsible for knowing appropriate security and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor tellers to ensure compliance with financial institution procedures and policies.  Issues written and oral instructions on teller operations as necessary.
  • Order foreign currency and send in foreign currency for exchange to U.S. currency.
  • Responsible for scheduling the teller staff for the office.
  • Responsible for opening all types of deposit related accounts and services for retail and business customers. 
  • Coordinate with the branch manager the monthly staff meetings and branch quarterly audits.
  • Assist the branch manager in the day to day operations of the branch office.

Other Functions:

  • To see that all policies and procedures are followed and that personnel have a strong working knowledge of all policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions of the Job:

  • Stationed at teller area 95% of working time, requires standing on feet good share of day.
  • Work at least two Saturdays each month.
  • Handling and lifting large bags or boxes of coins.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Three to five years of banking experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • One to two years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Have a strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be a detail oriented person, accurate, good listener and have good customer relation skills.
  • Professional appearance and manner is required for customer contact.
  • Proper phone etiquette required.
  • Ability to work with all other departments.
