Union Bank Board Chairman Steps Down, Announcement of New Chairman and Vice Chairman

Grand Rapids, Michigan – November 1, 2021 – Cortney Collison, Union Bank President and Chief Executive Officer today announced that Lloyd Cunningham, who has served as Chairman of the Banks’ Board of Directors for over a decade, will step down from his current role, effective November 1st.  Cunningham will remain on the Board in which he has served as an active member since 1996.  

“Lloyd is known for his unwavering commitment to our stakeholders and long-term success of our financial institution,” said Collison.  “In celebration of his role as Chairman, we share our gratitude for his hard work, dedication and continued service to Union Bank and the communities we serve.”

In light of this announcement and unanimous vote from their fellow Board Members, Chris Fluke has been appointed Chairman and Paul Trierweiler, Vice Chairman.

New Board Chairman Chris Fluke, previously Vice Chairman, has been an active member of the Board for over 14 years. A lifelong resident of Hastings, Michigan, Fluke began his professional career as an accountant in 1981 and retired as Partner from Walker, Fluke, & Sheldon, PLA Certified Public Accountants in 2018.  He has always been an active member of the Hastings as well as its surrounding communities.  Even after retirement, he still retains his CPA license and currently serves as Director of Hastings Mutual Insurance Company.  With over 37 years of diverse finance and accounting experience in Barry County, Fluke brings a wealth of local knowledge and a true understanding for the needs of Michigan businesses and the communities they serve to his new role. 

New Vice Chairman, Paul Trierweiler, has been an active member of the Board for 15 years.  A lifelong resident of Westphalia, Michigan, Trierweiler is the co-owner of Trierweiler Dairy.    Among his many achievements, he was a recipient of the National Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 2005 and has been the Chairman of the CentralStar Cooperative Board of Directors for 8 years, to name a few.    With extensive agricultural experience in Ionia and Clinton Counties, Trierweiler brings to his Union Bank role - knowledge and a true understanding for the needs of Michigan farmers and the financial tools they need to succeed.
