ID Theft Protection
Identity theft is the illegal use of someone else’s personal information in order to obtain credit, money or other services. ID theft is a crime and is on the rise with the latest version being medical identity theft using your personal health or insurance information to obtain medical care or prescriptions. Criminals can find your personal information in a number of ways including stealing your mail, purse or wallet; finding confidential information in the trash; pretending to be a legitimate business or financial institution over the phone or via email; or by obtaining your data through websites or other online scams. They then use information such as your social security number to apply for credit, make purchases or withdrawal/transfer cash.
Keep in mind that any legitimate financial institution will not call, text or contact you in any way to ask for your account information – they would already have that on file. Never give your information to anyone by phone, email or in-person unless you are initiating the call or transaction. The same follows for your medical information.
If you believe you could be a victim of identity theft, please contact us immediately. Our staff will work with you to determine if your Union Bank accounts should be locked or closed completely and assist you in any way possible.
Steps to follow:

- If your UB Debit Card has been compromised, call us during business hours or after hours call 1.800.528.2273 to have your card deactivated.
- Check your credit reports for any suspicious activity at AnnualCreditReport.com. or call 877.322.8228.
